before man, before his birth
eons ago was formed mother earth
she raises us, she nurtures us
she still continues to shelter us
we take her for granted
set aside one day of the year
to celebrate her existence
without whom we wouldn’t be here
it’s natural to blame her
for many of our mistakes
but if we don’t take better care of her
expect more tsunamis, more earthquakes
a half a page poem, with some half baked rhymes
or an extensive essay with over a million lines
won’t come close to conveying
how much the earth is worth to us
how lucky we have gotten
that it gave birth to us
the only known object in the universe
which accommodates life
the only mother in the world
home to millions of species of life
as loving as an angel, as strong as steel
my skills in rhyming i get from you i feel
as tender as a flower, as fierce as a hawk
i love you mother and i think you rock
